Goals and Guiding Principles
Three major goals guided the development of this curriculum:

  1. Focus on fully developing students’ Chinese language sense and their abilities of listening, speaking, reading, and writing
  2. Engage the students in understanding Chinese culture
  3. Cultivate cross-cultural awareness and prepare the students to be successful communicators in cross-cultural situations

These goals provide the foundation for a reality and practicality based curriculum. All course materials are relevant to daily life. The specially designed course activities allow students to experience modern Chinese culture to the fullest. This program will push students to achieve their potential language skills needed for real communication in the Chinese speaking world.

Instructional Media and Methodology
This curriculum is multimedia technology assisted, and caters to the different learning styles of various age groups. Lessons are delivered using interactive methods; students are encouraged to actively participate in learning through all kinds of engaging activities, including discussions, presentations, role play and games etc.
